Nikon D5100 Review
This is a arms on critique of the Nikon D5100. I got the opportunity to invest an hour with the New Nikon D5100 and take sample photographs and movie. I truly feel this is a reliable starter digital camera even a lot more so than the D3100. I see this as possibly a starter camera or a flat out video only camera for someone seeking to make videos. Getting the identical sensor as the D7000 is a primary plus. Verify out the relaxation of the video to see and hear my other thoughts.
Quick video clip of the new Nikon D5100 becoming unboxed.

Check out my pictures with the Nikon D5100 on my channel!!
@89DerChristian it's a review, he's supposed to talk..
LMFAO YOU SMELLING THE BUBBLE WRAP.
I would not buy the camera for the effects. You would probably use those colour sketch and other effects once or twice and then go back to normal photography.
BTW: the D7000 only does HD at 24fps while the D5100 already does 30fps.
Yea, the D5100 is tiny and you have to be careful it doesnt fall out of your hands. The grip is so small.
That smell is VOC, volatile organic compounds which are basically unhealthy.
Jared i wanna start shooting sports with my 5100 - what affordable/high quality telephoto zoom would you recommend?
I bought a new D5100 a few days ago. I think my battery has a problem. It runs out after about 3-4 hours of use (not continuant) and about 40-60 photos. I mostly use liveview. Plz comment about your D5100's battery life so I can decide if I will make a complaint to the shop. THX.
I was ready to go out and buy a D5100 today, but the video mode looks more like a slideshow. Is it better if you drop it down from 1080p?
damn dude... you just shit on my good mood. this cam should have been compared and contrasted to the d90 so it didn't seem like everything was so negative
where is part 2 of this video?
Thank You, Charlie Puth.
Last October I purchased the d3100, just got the d5100 today. Can confidently say Im happier with the 5100....while the IQ improvement is hardly significant things like bracketing, incremental iso, selective color, in cam raw processing etc are really building on me. Im extremely lucky, I got the 5100 kit for 750 CDN (brand new) so this was easily a great purchase but If i did have to pay the reg price I wouldn't be too disappointed.
but will it blend....
very nice smell ha ? HEHE .
Thanks dude.. this is by far the best D5100 review i have ever seen.
I'll be buying this beauty tomorrow, hopefully
This guy makes me remember that guy from Modern Family, Phil!
Were you sent here by the devil?
It's very exciting to smell something new ! ! !
@sundressesandknives
For video, get the t3i. It's very clear on images even though it doesn't have as many effects, but the real difference is that this camera is very weak on video compared to the t3i.
I FINALLY saved up enough money for either one.
This will be my FIRST DSLR camera..i've never used one so i don't know exactly how to work it, but i need an honest opinion form someone on which one i should get as a beginner? I primarily want to use it for videos.
i sniffed my camera when i got it
Check out my sample pictures with my Nikon D5100 on my channel!!!
@thplaydoughs I had the same problem.... got the canon today and im really happy with it
I just received mine, however it did not come with a camera body warranty, I have only received the kit lens warranty papers. Did you receive the body warranty papers?
@thplaydoughs canon- better for movies, nikon- better pictures
@thplaydoughs Same Here
@thplaydoughs
Nikon
@thplaydoughs hands down the nikon is better. and no, im no fanboy of either, i just looked into it. you should check out the comparison on snapsort.com (go to google and type "canon 600d vs nikon d5100 snapsort) its the first link.
@TheThinin Yes it does
And it also has an external mic input
Does it Have a Mic ? so when you record a video it also records sound at the same time .
@thplaydoughs depends on what you are going to use it for
photo, video, Both. If both then i think the 600d because it takes great pictures (not saying the d5100 takes bad pictures) and shoots great video
I cant wait to get mine!!!!
I'm 12 years old photographer with Nikon d5100 , i love this amazing cam ! Nikon beats canon
i wanna get this camera and i have enough $, should i just save for a little longer for a d7000 or should i just go with the d5100
@thplaydoughs Video quality: Canon - Image Quality: Nikon
I did a lot of research as well, read reviews, saw utube videos, went to a store, held D5100 and 600D in my hands (for a long time, annoyed the seller there))), and went for D5100, despite all the disadvantages I read about. And I'm sure I did the right thing.

D5100 problemakers
especially when recording video
you should know that video autofocus isn't good as u think
600D is much better , most important is ur sd card
make sure u use class 10 SD card or u cant recording full HD video
@thplaydoughs Get the 600D bro.You have better accesory choices and more compability with canon's lenses
@thplaydoughs did alot of research and picked the d5100
The whole point of an unboxing is to show EVERYTHING that's in the box, and you skipped over half of it!
@spearmintmonkey All cameras have hot pixels if you look close enough. This is a good camera for a good price.
@thplaydoughs i litterly just made the decison 5 minutes ago to go with this over the 600D.

I'm stucked! I don't know whether I should choose Canon 600d or this! :/
my stomach. i want this reallly much
hi i will like to know which camera should i buy FOR FOTOGHRAPHY IN FIRST PLACE not video. i am between the nikon d5100 and the canon 600d t3i
HELP!! PLEASE
@mayacrs Apparently they both have their advantages and disadvantages. One thing is for sure is that you get more for your money with the D5100, and apparently the D5100 takes better quality images and videos, plus it has a clip out screen. The D7000 has better battery life, more AF points, faster shutter speed, two SD card slots, much better battery too. Saying that it is almost 50% more expensive than the D5100 so it really depends on your needs/wants. The D7000 is more of a 'pro' camera.
